Ms. Kim Gietka has served as the Chief Operating Officer at the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, or DEVCOM, since August 2021. In this newly established position, she oversees the day-to-day business operations of a headquarters team of ~300 civilian, military and contract personnel to integrate and synchronize across key program areas, including talent management, infrastructure and budget. She works closely with the executive leadership team to ensure continuous operations across DEVCOM, the Army’s largest technology developer.
Prior to assuming duties as DEVCOM COO, Gietka was the Director of the Commander’s Action Group, serving as a principal advisor to the DEVCOM senior leadership team. During her career, she has worked to spearhead change in corporate strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and operational efforts to implement solutions that advance organizational goals.
Gietka holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Lynchburg and a master’s degree in communications management from Towson University. Her training includes: Office of Personnel Management Aberdeen Proving Ground Senior Leadership Cohort Program; The McChrystal Group Chief of Staff Academy; and Harford Leadership Academy.
Her professional recognitions include Superior Civilian Service Awards; Civilian Service Commendation Medals; Commander’s Award for Civilian Service; and Achievement Medals for Civilian Service and Baltimore Federal Executive Board.
