The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Army Research Laboratory, known as DEVCOM ARL, is the Army’s research laboratory and one of DEVCOM’s eight science and technology domains. The laboratory’s mission is to operationalize science.
DEVCOM ARL fully integrates internal and external foundational research efforts to shape future concepts by providing innovative solutions through technical expertise and groundbreaking scientific research for concept-driven Army transformation.
This research is based on 11 foundational research competencies: biological and biotechnology sciences; electromagnetic spectrum sciences; energy sciences, humans in complex systems; mechanical sciences; military information sciences; network, cyber, and computational sciences; photonics, electronics, and quantum sciences; sciences of extreme materials; terminal effects; and weapons sciences.
DEVCOM ARL’s disruptive scientific research, coupled with collaborative and prioritized funding to the worldwide scientific community, creates and harnesses scientific knowledge to operationalize science, to ensure future war readiness.
